Persepolis

The ceremonial capital of the Persian Empire

Begun by Darius the Great around 518 BC, Persepolis was where delegations from across the Achaemenid Empire brought gifts to the King of Kings. Its staircases are still carved with their processions — Lydians, Ethiopians, Indians and Babylonians in stone.
