Yazd

A living adobe city on the edge of the desert

Yazd’s old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a maze of mud-brick lanes cooled by windcatchers and fed by ancient underground qanats. It is also the heart of Iran’s Zoroastrian community, with a sacred fire temple and hilltop Towers of Silence.
