Mount Damavand

The roof of the Middle East

At about 5,610 metres, Damavand is the highest peak in Iran and the highest volcano in Asia. Its perfect snowy cone rises above the Alborz range, a non-technical but demanding climb for fit hikers in summer, and a symbol of Persian myth and poetry.
